Lindenwood Early Close Today (2/16) – Classes After 3 p.m. Held Virtually

Due to inclement weather and potentially hazardous road conditions, the Lindenwood University campus is closing at 3 p.m. today, February 16. Employees and students are encouraged to use extreme caution when traveling. Essential Employees should contact their supervisor for their on-campus schedule. We thank you in advance for your service. 

In-person classes starting at 3 p.m. or later today will be held virtually or will have learning activities that can be completed remotely. Students that are enrolled in classes that are online, hyflex, or hybrid should check Canvas and email for information from their professor, since many of these learning activities will continue virtually. Faculty should provide information regarding changes to class assignments and deadlines. Students should check Canvas and email for communication from their instructors. 

Faculty and staff are advised to take their laptops and work materials home with them in case of continuing bad weather.

All in-person campus activities starting at 3 p.m. or later are canceled. Virtual events may continue as planned. Any change in dining service hours will be communicated and/or updated in GrubHub.

Lindenwood University offers you the chance to earn a bachelor of arts degree in game design. The game design program, one of our fastest-growing programs, is designed to prepare you for working in a game studio environment. The curriculum for this St. Louis game design degree includes advanced game design and production courses, allowing you to move from conception to application covering key industry concepts ranging from aesthetics and immersion to usability and game economics. You will also study foundational topics like storytelling and character development. Project and portfolio courses are threaded throughout the curriculum and are dedicated to providing a relevant and comprehensive curriculum.

Required Equipment

The game design BA degree program has immersive reality technologies integrated throughout the curriculum and requires use of a virtual reality headset as identified by the department and associated applications. Immersive realities, such as virtual reality, provide a fully immersive educational experience that leads to greater engagement and understanding of subjects covered in classes. Students are not only able to engage with the material, other students, and their instructor, they also can better understand the context of those relationships while immersed in the virtual environment. These experiences support the learning outcomes for the bachelor's in game design program and prepare students for use of these technologies in their professions.

Earning a Bachelor of Arts in Game Design

As a game design major at Lindenwood University, you will study in either an online or hybrid environment, combining online classes with on-campus, face-to-face, courses. The bachelor of arts (BA) degree in game design requires major coursework in addition to the general education requirements. Online and hybrid courses in game design include Game Development, Concept Design, and 3D Animation.

Game design is a competitive field different areas within the industry, including game designer, game programmer, and game artist, all have their specialties. Mechanics designer, writer, concept artist, modeler, art director, engine programmer, and audio programmer are all careers under the game design career umbrella.
