Earning a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Dance at Lindenwood University

You can earn one of the following degrees in dance at Lindenwood University.

When you earn a dance degree at Lindenwood University, your education will be a combination of a liberal arts curriculum with a diverse range of dance coursework and performance opportunities that will prepare you for entry into your chosen profession. You will also learn durable power skills, such as critical thinking, poise, empathy, and leadership.

A Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Dance is a liberal arts degree program with a strong dance curriculum in diverse techniques and dance specific academics. Students in this program are encouraged to minor in programs such as business, nonprofit administration, psychology, or exercise science to enhance opportunities for future employment. If you are interested in the BA in dance, an audition is encouraged, but not required.

A Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Dance is a professional degree program that prepares students for performing careers. Coursework (for this program) combines a liberal arts curriculum with intensive coursework in diverse dance techniques, advanced dance specific academics, and performance related courses in music and theatre. If you wish to pursue a BFA in dance at Lindenwood University, you must audition and declare a specialization in ballet, contemporary, or jazz dance.

While many of our dance program students go on to pursue professional performing careers, some students pair this major with a degree in business or nonprofit administration before opening their own dance studios or pursuing administrative careers in the arts. In all cases, the courses you take at Lindenwood University will advance your skills equally in ballet, contemporary, jazz, and tap.
